If your neighbour is planning to carry out building works on or close to the party wall then changes are they have served you with one or more Party Wall Notices relating to the notifyable building works.
Each notice will cover a seperate part of the act. The three sections notices are served on frequently are section 1 (line of junction), section 3 (party structure) and section 6 (adjacent excavations).
As an adjoining owner you will not be asked to pay any Party Wall Surveyors fees in relation to your neighbours building works.
It is the responsibility of the person carrying out the building works to pay the Party Wall Surveyor Costs of themselves and their neighbours.
Even with that being said however, it is nice to know that your neighbour will benefit from our very reasonable prices and will be provided with an up front FIXED Price for our service.
This is where we take a completely different approach to other Party Wall Surveyors who instead keep a running tab and then provide an invoice once the award is in place.
The total Party Wall Surveyors costs can then come as a complete shock to your neighbour, especially if a lot of time has been spent on the award.
This can create bad feeling between neighbours when in reality neither neighbour is at fault, it is the Party Wall Surveyor for not providing details of their fees upfront.
